Yoni Gera

He began his professional career in 2004 when he co-created "Tzeret" (Heartburn) alongside Ilan Rosenfeld, Kobi Faraj, and Oded Paz—a daily sketch show that aired on the Music Channel (Channel 24) during its early days. Later, he continued working with "HaPijamot", writing several episodes for the series. He directed HaPijamot spin-off series: "HaPijamot in Café Kof-Sol" (Seasons 1 & 2) and "HaPijamot in the Duvaleh Show," for which he also wrote several episodes. Throughout most seasons of HaPijamot, Gera appeared as a guest actor playing the character Bye Guinness (a daily entertainment show host) on the segment "Erev Sof with Bye Guinness"—a parody of the show "Erev Tov with Guy Pines." Notable Directing & Creating Credits: Our City (HaIr Shelanu): Directed this sketch show starring Ilan Rosenfeld, Kobi Faraj, Yuval Segal, Oded Paz, and Liat Har Lev. The Messy Chef (HaTabach HaMesubach): Co-created with Oded Paz; a children's cooking show hosted by Oded Paz and Yuval Segal. The Big Brother (HaAch HaGadol): Served as a daily director for Seasons 2, 3, and 4. The Shavit and Ventura Show: Directed this Disney Channel series for children and youth (2010). The Pencil Cases (HaKalmarim): Has been directing this popular children's series starring Udi and Aviad since 2012. Sister Jumped a Grade (Achoti Kaftza Kita): Directed this series starring Bar Miniali, Omer Hazan, Oded Menashe, and Tali Oren (2017–2018). Family in the Making (Mishpacha BeHanpaka): Directed this teen sitcom for HOT (2019). Dad’s Camp (Machane Abba): Directed this series for YES starring Assi Israelof, Uri Gavriel, and Kim Or Azulay (2020). Additional Work: Gera directed field reports for the entertainment show "Y" on Channel 10, edited and directed the Music Channel's daily humor segment hosted by Dror Rafael ("The Quiz of Illusions"), and edited the humor and satire radio show "Sidekick" on Radio 99. In 2006, he created and directed Israel's first mobile docu-series, which followed the recording of Ninet Tayeb’s debut album. The series reached the finals of the MIPCOM festival in Cannes. Personal Life: Yoni is the son of attorney Ehud Gera (a tenders expert and former Director-General of the Ministry of Economy and Planning) and the great-grandson of Gru Gera, a senior official in the Mandate police and government and Israel's first Prison Service Commissioner. He is married to Abigail Lapin Gera, a journalist for the Yedioth Ahronoth group and a blogger ("The Black Fairy"). Their eldest daughter was born in September 2016.
