A refugee infant is kidnapped from a shelter by a gang involved in illegal adoptions. The baby is then handed over to a family desperate to adopt after years of failed attempts. In their despair, the family uses their life savings to adopt the child, unaware he has been abducted. Meanwhile, the baby's family attempts to report the disappearance through legal channels, but they are met with indifference, bureaucracy, and racism in a foreign country. Desperate and pushed to the edge, the baby's father and teenage brother take drastic action: they kidnap the interpreter, the only person who has shown them compassion, and storm a bank, taking hostages. Angelos steps in as the negotiator and is shocked when the two refugees demand not money, but the safe return of their child, threatening to kill the hostages if their demands are not met.
